Respite care provides flexible support for carers and families

If you are caring for someone with a disability or illness then you deserve to take time off from caring for them. Taking breaks from a role that can be mentally, emotionally and physically challenging is vital for your relationship, other family members and your own health and well-being.

Respite care enables you to go out for the day, go on holiday or it can just provide some flexible additional support so you can get some important time for yourself.

Who is respite care for?

Respite care is usually short term support provided to carers such as family members who care for a loved one. It can be regular short term support to enable ongoing breaks for carers. Respite care enables carers to

  • Go out for the day or go on holiday on their own
  • Go out for the day or go on holiday with the person they care for, but with support so the pressure is taken off them
  • Gain some time for themselves through some flexible additional support

Is respite care right for you?

  • Respite care for days out and holidays with the person you care for
Whether you have a family event, want to enjoy a day out doing something different, or go on holiday, respite care can enable this to happen in a way that takes the pressure off the carer. Our respite care team can help the person you care for get ready, travel safely and ensure their needs are met on your behalf.
  • Respite care for days out and holidays on your own
Sometimes you may want to go out on your own and this is allowed! Our respite team can step in for a morning, afternoon, evening, whole day, or even provide respite live in care. Our carers won't just sit indoors with the person you care for. They will tailor this service to suit what the person you care for needs and wants to do.
  • Access to people you know and trust
We can help you create a support team of people you trust so that you know the carers who will come to your aid when you need respite care. This is reassuring for both you the carer and the person you care for.
  • Flexible respite care at home
Sometimes you just need someone to come in and help with domestic tasks, supporting the person you care for or just someone to talk to for an hour. Our respite care team is flexible and will tailor the support to suit your specific needs whenever you need that bit of extra support.
