New furniture

Adam has been supported to visit a furniture store to choose a new dining table and sideboard for his house that he shares with two housemates. He will be showing photos of the furniture that he likes to his housemates to see if they like them too and then the new furniture will be purchased.

Having a go at Boccia

Toni has really been enjoying going to Boccia recently. You may be wondering what is Boccia?

Boccia is a sport designed for athletes with high support needs and has no Olympic equivalent. It is a target sport played indoors with soft leather balls. It is a sport of intriguing tactics, incredible skill and nail biting tension. Once you see it or play it you will be hooked!

BNF Healthy Eating Week 2019

14552 BNF Healthy Eating Week Logo 147x147

This week has been the British Nutrition Foundation’s Healthy Eating Week which is a dedicated week in the year to encourage organisations across the UK to focus on healthy eating and drinking, physical activity and celebrate healthy living.

At the heart of BNF Healthy Eating Week are five health challenges:

Have breakfast
Have 5 a day
Drink plenty
Get active
Sleep well

Karren, our Training Manager has sent resources to all head office staff to promote the BNF challenges and has put up posters in our communal kitchen.

The week before we hosted a healthy shared lunch where we were tasked with bringing in a healthy item to share at lunch time.

We hope that the BNF Healthy Eating Week has helped create positive changes in our lifestyles.

A trip to the West End

Service user Adam has recently been on a trip to London to see a West End Show after already visiting London earlier in the year to see Aladdin. Adam has lots of DVDs and loves musicals. Adam’s staff team supported him to choose which show he would like to see and came into the office where I supported him to plan his trip including the show, hotel and transport. Adam said that he really enjoyed the trip and would like to look further afield for the ultimate experience, maybe even New York!

World Autism Awareness Week donations

We’re very proud to receive a letter from the National Autistic Society thanking us for our donation of £150.00 which was raised from the disco in April. We originally raised £142.00 but this was rounded up all in aid of a great cause.

Another thank you to everyone involved, the money raised will make a real difference.
